ADA Environmental Solutions (ADES) creates and delivers technical and chemical solutions for emissions reductions at coal-fired power plants. The company supplies powdered activated carbon injection systems, mercury measurements, and services related to emission control for coal-fired boilers used in electric generation. It also processes and manufactures activated carbon (AC) and interim sources of AC for mercury control applications.
Some other products ADA provides are Cyclean and Flue Gas Conditioning. Cyclean is the solution to the problems created by switching cyclone fired boilers from their design fuel to PRB coal. PRB coals have a much steeper temperature vs. viscosity curve than bituminous coals. This means that the temperature range for the slag to stay at the proper viscosity is much smaller than with the design fuel. Small changes in temperature can cause the slag to be too thin or too thick. ADA CyClean is a cost effective coal additive that is added to the coal just prior to the crusher, enabling it to be evenly distributed in the coal supply before combustion. Flue Gas conditioning improves the performance of Electrastatic Precipitators (ESPs) and enables compliance with air regulations.
